A delegation representing the King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness has recently visited the United Kingdom to take part in the Youth Sport Trust’s 2012 Conference which was held at Telford on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 February 2012. The delegation presented a PowerPoint presentation about the King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness project which is implemented by the Ministry of Education and RHAS.
Samer Al Kasih, manager of the King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness and Dr. Zayed Al-Hayajneh, head of the Physical Fitness at the Ministry of Education presented a comprehensive presentation about the Award and highlighted the sport leadership role in forming the foundations of a national framework for health and fitness clubs across the school system at the Ministry of Education.
The King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness was established in 2005 as a school-based national initiative that targets young people who comprise one-third of the population.
The program promotes physical fitness and healthy lifestyle choices among young Jordanians in order to combat the rising incidence of lifestyle-related diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension, as well as obesity.
